Christopher Thomas started acting professionally in the West End under directorship of Cameron Mackintosh, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Bill Kenwright. He then studied at Royal Ballet School and Rambert School where he graduated in 2017 with a 1st Class Honours degree. Choreographic awards include Charlotte Kirkpatrick Award and Young Choreographer Award. This year Christopher joined Sadler’s Wells as Young Associate Artist. While at school, Christopher performed with Rambert in Mark Baldwin’s The Creation and Itzik Galili’s A Linha Curva. He continued to tour with the company for its 2016 winter season during which time he also worked with Didy Veldman, Mark Bruce, Antonia Grove, Travis C Knight and Arielle Smith. Christopher is establishing his own choreographic process based on ‘method acting’ which aims towards a new emotionally immersive experience for both audience and performer. Christopher’s recent pieces Behind Closed Doors, The Dinner and Flesh were the beginning of affirming his style. Since joining Sadler’s Wells, he has created The Suicide Note and Blood’s Thicker Than Water. Audiences have described his work as ‘atmospheric dance theatre for the Netflix generation.’ Christopher will premiere a new work in October at Lilian Baylis Studio. Christopher has co-founded Retrospect Dance Theatre with Hannah McGlashon. The company’s first full-length work In Light of Those You Love premiered at Asylum Chapel, London. It also premiered as a feature length dance film at Whirled Cinema, London. As a dancer Christopher is currently working with Mark Bruce Company on Macbeth, Arielle Smith Dance on Lots of Varied Expectations and with Carolyn Bolton Dance on a new collaboration premiering later this year.
